Sharleen Tarnate-Nguyen
Sharleen Tarnate-Nguyen is the Volunteer Program Development Manager for the San Diego Humane Society, where she oversees recruitment, event management, recognition, engagement strategy, and new program development for their volunteer base of over 4,000 individuals. During her time here, she also co-founded SDHS’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. Prior to working in animal welfare, Sharleen built her career in the arts and culture sector, working and volunteering in institutions like the San Diego Museum of Man (now the Museum of Us), The Huntington Library, The Getty Villa, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. She previously served on the boards of San Diego’s Cultural Volunteer Managers Council and the San Diego Emerging Museum Professionals. Currently, she volunteers as a guest faculty presenter for Nonprofit Solutions and is involved with the Anti-Defamation League’s Glass Leadership Institute.
