Resource Library

The Resource Library is open to the public free of charge Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding holidays and special events.

*Please note the Resource Library will be CLOSED May 6-June 10, 2019. It will reopen at our new location on June 10, 2019 at 8765 Aero Dr., Suite 312, San Diego, CA 92123.

A walk-in facility for Nonprofit Managements Solutions’ members, clients, and others in the nonprofit community, the Resource Library includes a comprehensive collection of books, pamphlets, bound materials, journals, and periodicals plus online resources covering all areas of nonprofit management. Our Resource Library also includes the following:

Foundation Directory Online (FDO) Professional – Nonprofit Management Solutions is a Funding Information Network partner of the Foundation Center (formerly known as the Cooperating Collections network).  As a Funding Information Network partner, Nonprofit Management Solutions provides a collection of materials and services related to grantseeking and fundraising. The Foundation Directory Online (FDO) is the most comprehensive grantmaking database in the world and the linchpin of the Foundation Center Collection. FDO allows you to create customized prospect lists with more than 110,000 grantmakers, over 5 million grant records, and in-depth program descriptions.  


The Funding Information Network also includes the National Directory of Corporate Giving -profiles of major corporate foundations and direct giving programs, Foundation 1000 - in-depth analysis of the top 1000 U.S. foundations, grants to individuals, and many other print resources.


Wage & Benefit Survey of Southern & Central California Nonprofit Organizations – to help you develop equitable and competitive salaries, compensation packages and policies, updated annually.

BoardSource - information and tools for effective governance and accountability, with resources on bylaws, fiscal oversight, board structure, roles and responsibilities, etc.
Library resources are non-circulating, but you are welcome to come in and use materials here and copy information as needed and appropriate.

Assistance with the FDO:

  • The Librarian is available to provide assistance using the FDO on an appointment basis, please contact our office to schedule an appointment.
  • Throughout the year, Nonprofit Management Solutions offers the workshop, “The In’s & Out’s of Foundation Directory Online.” This workshop is for fund developers, grantwriters, and anyone who is responsible for finding funding sources for their organization. “The In’s & Out’s of Foundation Directory Online” is offered free of charge, but seating is limited. Dates and times can be found here.
